The Vampire Count

person · Featured in 0 generations

The vampire count is the dress-coat-and-cape figure that Halloween borrowed from Gothic fiction: pale, poised, widow's peak, high collar and a crimson-lined opera cape. The look descends from Bram Stoker's 1897 novel and the stage adaptations that followed, and it has since become shorthand for Halloween itself, worn at parties and haunted houses long after the books that invented it stopped being read.
